STANDARD COMPETENCIES:
I. To provide the student an initial look at the GIS industry and an opportunity to promote and broaden his/her philosophy and understanding of the GIS profession.
II. A hands-on educational experience for students who want to understand how GIS is incorporated into a real-world project.
III. To increase knowledge of GIS in managing spatial and mappable information in a real-world setting.
IV. To increase the student¿s critical thinking and analytical thought process by being an active member in a GIS project.
V. To strengthen relationships between agencies/companies and Pikes Peak Community College.
TOPICAL OUTLINE:
I. Introductions and orientations to the cooperative company/agency.
II. Project description and objectives is reviewed with the student by cooperative supervisor.
III. Student completes GIS project.
IV. Evaluation of student¿s work with cooperative supervisor and academic instructor.
