  Course Description:Involves in-depth field studies into the geology of specific regions both within and outside Colorado. Trips lasting from one to several days in length to study the area constitute the major activities of the course. The specific area of investigation is indicated in the schedule of classes each time the course is offered.

 STANDARD COMPETENCIES:
 
 I.      Recognize the basic rock types, geologic structures and geomorphic processes encountered on the trip and relate them to the geologic history of the region visited on the field trip. (I-III)


 TOPICAL OUTLINE:
 
 I.      Pre-trip activities involving lectures, readings, video-tapes and maps to prepare students for the geology they will encounter on the trip.
 II.     The field trip.
 III.    Post-trip activities in which students synthesize information gathered on the trip
