  Course Description:Introduces the basic concepts and skills of non-linear editing using Avid Media Composer. The student will gain facility in digitizing, compression, inputting, outputting, and software integration as well as the principles of nonlinear editing. The student will demonstrate comprehension in various editing techniques and apply the acquired knowledge to exercises in the class.

 1. Identify and describe the basic structure of files and folders used by the Avid system.
 2. Apply and demonstrate knowledge by creating frames, clips, and sequences on the Avid timeline.
 3. Select, order, and arrange shots to complete comprehensible storyline.
 4. Analyze the editing process in the constantly changing world of digital video.
 5. Demonstrate the ability to successfully use both the Avid editing hardware and the software.
 6. Solve problems with both our material and the hardware/software.
