Course Description: | Introduces students to the study of motion picture photography as a
means of communication as well as the processes and considerations
involved in 16mm film production. Covers film stock, laboratory and
processing, crew positions and responsibilities, audio, lighting and
exposure considerations. Students will apply both the creative and
technical aspects of cinematography and demonstrate their artistry and
collaborative skill with a final class project. |

¿ Analyze how and why cameras and film work.
¿ Collaborate on a class production as a to produce a short 16mm film
¿ Realize a working knowledge of the Arriflex, Bolex, Aatons, and other film cameras.
¿ Demonstrate knowledge of the loading and operation of film cameras
¿ Evaluate shooting methods and strategies for realization of narrative goals
¿ Master exposure calculation by use of light meters
¿ Demonstrate knowledge of film stocks and their best uses
¿ Demonstrate effective lighting for film in a simple scene
