STANDARD COMPETENCIES:
I. Upon completion of this course students will develop and deliver fire prevention programs, identify target audiences, relate the history of fire prevention activities, understand codes and standards associated with fire prevention and education, understand the functions of the Fire Prevention Bureau, and describe fire prevention as it relates to different type of occupancies, organizations, and groups.
TOPICAL OUTLINE:
I. Students will describe the evolution of fire prevention codes and ordinances.
II. Students will list and describe fire codes and ordinances related to fire prevention.
III. Students will identify target audiences as related to fire prevention and education.
IV. Students will develop and deliver fire prevention and education program.
V. Students will describe the basic process associated with conducting a fire prevention inspection.
VI. Students will describe the function of the Fire Prevention Bureau.
VII. Students will list and describe the roles of various groups and organizations involved in fire prevention.
VIII. Students will describe the role of fire codes and ordinances in fire prevention.
IX. Students will explain the function of the Public Fire Educator.
X Students will explain the role public education plays in fire prevention.
XI. Students will explain the process of developing public education presentations.
