STANDARD COMPETENCIES:
I. Develop a basic understanding of the specialty of swift water rescue.
II. Demonstrate the concepts of buoyancy, water dynamics, basic hazard recognition, identifying likely victim location and handling witnesses.
III. Demonstrate a basic understanding of water survival and self-rescue techniques.
IV. Master the basic principals of shore-based water rescue skills.
