STANDARD COMPENCIES:
1. Sharpen hand tools
2. Flatten and join boards using appropriate handplanes
3. Cut joinery using hand tools, mortise and tenon, lap joints, and dovetails
4. Make a mallet using hand-cut mortise and tenon joinery
5. Design and fabricate a small table using hand tools exclusively
6. Develop presentation techniques for prospective clients
7. Build a cabinet with a door and drawer using hand and power tools
8. Evaluate how and when to use veneers effectively
9. Demonstrate proficiencies in computer modeling software
10. Utilize Computer Numerically Controlled (CNC) equipment and incorporate this technology into student designs

I. Sharpening and tuning chisels and handplanes
II. Selecting and using handplanes
III. Constructing a small table using only hand tools
IV. Design and construction of small cabinet using traditional hand tool techniques
V. Hand cut through and half-blind dovetails
VI. Construction and fitting of a traditionally made drawer
VII. Making and fitting of furniture doors
VIII. Applications and selection of veneering
IX. Design and modeling using Computer Aided Design (CAD) software in furniture context
X. Utilization of CNC router and laser software and machines
XI. Presentation techniques for prospective clients
