Course Description: | Teaches the student to repair and restore furniture. The student will learn how to determine the adhesive and finish used, repair veneer, replace broken pieces, reassemble reconditioned furniture repair, and restore finishes. The student will learn how to determine the original construction methods employed in order to repair furniture. |

STANDARD COMPETENCIES:
1. Evaluate a piece to restore and write a plan to accomplish the restoration.
2. Plan and execute a restoration using a piece of furniture as a restoration project.
3. Use machine and hand tools to enhance woodworking skills for planning and finishing restoration projects.
TOPICAL OUTLINE:
I. Review of the piece to be restored
II. Construction methods
III. Assessment of requirements to restore the object to its original condition
IV. Identification of the materials used to restore the object including type of wood, veneer, finish, fasteners, hardware and adhesives
V. Practical demonstrations of veneer repair, color matching, materials and supplies used for furniture repair and reconstruction
