TOPICAL OUTLINE
I. Demonstrate how to set up, tune, and use Japanese woodworking tools
A. Tune and use a wooden hand plane
B. Tune hollow-back cutting tools, i.e. chisels and plane blades
II. Use Japanese tool skills to make wooden tools and jigs
A. Straight edge (Shitaba Jogi)
B. Marking gage (Kebiki)
III. Practice making joints with Japanese hand tools
A. Ken-dome Tsugi
B. Nawa Kumi
IV. Introduce traditional and modern Japanese design and their origins in Japanese culture and history
V. Build final project combining Japanese and personal woodworking skills and design
