  Course Description:Involves making a project utilizing only hand tools. Through hand tool use a great many techniques and abilities that will be useful in improving woodworking skills and power tool performance will be learned.

 STANDARD COMPETENCIES:
 
 I.      Demonstrate knowledge of the use and maintenance of various hand tools
 II.     Outline the history of some of the most popular tools
 III.    Create a project utilizing only hand tools
 IV.     Demonstrate cutting and milling using saws and smoothing planes
 V.      Mill to final sizes using saws, shooting boards, routers (not the powered versions), and scrapers
 VI.     Demonstrate joinery using chisels, routers (same as above), and backsaws
 VII.    Demonstrate clamp-up and assembly
