  Course Description:Provides an introduction to woodworking based on an old-world approach to the instruction of basic woodworking skills. This is an intense course intended for serious/professional students only. The course includes in-depth instruction of hand, power, and stationary tools and thorough instruction on the elements of design, shop drawings, and wood science.

 STANDARD COMPETENCIES:
 
  I.      Practice safe and proper use of all hand, power, and stationary tools.
  II.     Identify requirements necessary for proper joinery and construction as related to wood movement and general characteristics of the variety of wood species
  III.    Identify various wood species, and know the proper finishing techniques.
  IV.     Demonstrate ability to design based upon given criteria
  V.      Demonstrate ability to generate working drawing as related to the design
  VI.     Construct the following:
