Course also covers behavior patterns of horses, proper handling and safety; need for and frequency of shoeing, anatomy and physiology of the lower leg, angles, hoof preparation, shoe selection, shaping, and basic techniques. |

STANDARD COMPETENCIES:

VI. Demonstrate proper selection and use of forging tools.
VII. Select and shape the proper shoe for any given hoof.
