Course Description: | Provides over-the-road driving experience with the driving instructor to prepare participants for the CDL driving test. This class drills students in safe driving procedures both on and off the road, including driving empty and loaded vehicles, proper turning and backing, appropriate use of brakes, shifting, and observing speed limits, signals, road signs, and port-of-entry procedures. |

I. Demonstrate knowledge concerning in-cab components and trailer connections during pre-trip inspections and written tests with 80% accuracy.
II. Operate the truck according to approved procedures for startup, double- clutch shifting, turning, braking, moving in traffic, backing, and parking as equired by the driving instructor.
III. Demonstrate the ability to operate a truck under night-time driving conditions during driving instruction.
IV. Practice driver awareness of engine operating conditions, road conditions by scanning mirrors and the road for near and long distance hazards, observing and following road signs, and practicing defensive driving during driving instruction to the satisfaction of the driving instructor.
V. Demonstrate competence in pre-trip inspections, driving commercial vehicles on the road and handling the vehicle during backing, parking and docking procedures as required for the Colorado CDL Driving Test administered by a certified Colorado Commercial Driving License Tester.
