Course Description: | Focuses on maintaining a safe and clean working heavy duty diesel shop. Emphasis is placed on the proper use and care for hand, electric, air and hydraulic tools safely. Covers how to clean equipment properly, to handle and dispose of hazardous materials correctly, and to apply mandated regulations. Emphasis is also placed on proper lifting equipment. |

STANDARD COMPETENCIES:
I. Identify and exhibit proper and safe use of hand, electric, air tools, and measuring tools.
II. Identify and exhibit proper and safe use lifting equipment
III. Identify and exhibit proper and safe use of various types of cleaning equipment
IV. Identify and exhibit proper and safe use of testing equipment
V. Identify the various types of construction equipment and exhibits and can explain the proper and safe operation of the various types of machinery
VI. Identify and explain the various types of mandated regulations and exhibit the operation, proper care and maintenance of the various types of equipment required to conform to OSHA.
VII. Demonstrate a working knowledge of appropriate shop practices and hazards, and apply the necessary preventive measures.
VIII. Demonstrate and be able to apply proper and safe use of ventilation and building exhaust systems
