Course Description: | Offers continued clinical experience for the ultrasound student. Application of the small parts didactic lectures will be applied and will include image evaluation and cross-sectional anatomy of the thyroid, breast and scrotum. The foundations of vascular anatomy, instrumentation, scanning techniques and image evaluation will be stressed. The student will spend 30 hours per week at the clinical site under the direct supervision of a registered sonographer. |

STANDARD COMPETENCIES:
I. perform basic organ measurements
II. list common congenital anomalies of all organ systems
III. complete a basic small parts examination(thyroid, breast, scrotum)
IV. complete a basic lower extremity venous examination
V. recognize certain pathologies on the sonographic image
VI. complete a basic lower extremity venous examination
VII. complete a limited examination of the external carotid system
VIII. recognize certain pathologies on the sonographic image
IX. identify anatomy of the thyroid, breast, scrotum and vascular system
TOPICAL OUTLINE:
I. Competencies will be accomplished as presented in the Clinical Education Sites.
