Course Description: | Offers the initial clinical course wherein the fundamental principles of abdominal, OB/GYN, and ultrasound physics will be applied under the direct supervision of a registered sonographer. The mastery of the foundations of instrumentation, scanning techniques, and image evaluation in sectional planes in abdominal and OB/GYN sonography will be stressed. |

STANDARD COMPETENCIES:
I. perform basic organ measurements
II. list common congenital anomalies of all organ systems
III. complete a basic upper abdominal examination
IV. complete a basic lower abdominal examination (both trans-abdominally and trans-vaginally
V. recognize certain pathologies on the sonographic image
VI. identify anatomy of the liver, gallbladder/biliary tree, pancreas, and urinary tract.
VII. identify anatomy of the female reproductive organs and the pelvic contents
TOPICAL OUTLINE:
I. Competencies will be accomplished as presented in the Clinical Education Sites.
