Course Description: | Teaches students how to perform duplex exams of the renal, mesenteric, aorta and iliac arteries as well as the inferior vena cava, iliac, hepatic and portal veins. The student will identify risk factors and describe pathogenic mechanisms of these vessels. Surgical and interventional techniques will be discussed. Post interventional ultrasonic evaluation of these procedures will also be discussed and demonstrated. Correlation with other diagnostic procedures will be demonstrated. |

STANDARD COMPETENCIES:
I. Identify the normal anatomy of the abdominal vascular system.
II. Perform B-Mode and Doppler examination of abdominal vascular structures.
III. Recognize pathology of the abdominal vascular structures.
IV. Discuss the pathophysiology of abdominal vascular disease.
V. List surgical and non-surgical interventions.
