  Course Description:Covers a detailed study of ultrasound physics and the application within the clinical setting. Manipulation of technique controls, basic mathematical concepts, various Doppler modalities, equipment artifacts, QC/QA procedures, 3D fundamentals, and bio effects are covered. ~Note: The comprehensive final is in a registry review format.~

 STANDARD COMPETENCIES:
 
 I.      manipulate image parameters such as grayscale and color gain, TGC, compression, color priority, PRF, and frame rate to obtain an optimal image.
 II.     identify the procedure to reduce image artifacts.
 III.    recognize the importance of the ALARA principle.
 IV.     describe components within the transducer and imaging unit.
 V.      list the steps for performing QC within the ultrasound department.
 VI.     discuss bioeffects found with ultrasound.
 VII.    recall the basic concepts of 3D reconstruction of the sonographic image

 II.     Transducers and imaging instruments
 III.    The Doppler Effect, Doppler color instruments, power Doppler, and spectral Doppler instruments
 IV.     Artifacts, Performance and safety (QC/QA), bioeffects, and foundations of 3D sonography
