 STANDARD COMPETENCIES:
 
 I.      Analyze the basic ASL grammar
 II.     Translate from English to ASL and vice versa
 III.    Maintain the skill and fluency in ASL
 IV.     Identify different mouthing of ASL
 V.      Discuss the 7 (seven) hand shapes for non-dominant hand
 VI.     Recognize many different handshapes for dominant hand
 VII.    Identify the importance of grammatical markers in ASL
 VIII.   Label the classifiers used by a signer
 IX.     Determine the differences between nouns and verbs in ASL
 X       Identify some expressions (idioms) in ASL
 XI.     Recognize fingerspelled loan signs
 XII.    Recognize four basic parts (parameters of signs)
 XIII.   Observe mouth movements as non-manual modifiers
