STANDARD COMPETENCIES:
I. Continue to exhibit professional behavior in attitude, actions, appearance and personal hygiene
II. Utilize patient assessment skils acquired in DEH 102 to plan appropriate preventive and therapeutic dental hygiene services
III. Follow all infection control policies thereby promoting safety for the health of the operator, patient, and faculty/staff
IV. Maintainand operate clinical equipment, keeping the clinical area in optimum operative condition
V. Describe and utilize the appropriate technique to maintain sharp, well-shaped instruments
VI. Provide appropriate dental hygiene services to clinical patients based on individual patient needs
TOPICAL OUTLINE:
I. Instrument sharpening
II. Adaptation of area specific curets
III. Care of the motor/air driven dental hand-piece
IV. Care of the dental prostheses
V. Application of the Dental Hygiene Process of care
VI. Treatment for dentin sensitivity
VII. Use of the (PSR) Periodontal Screening and Recording system
