STANDARD COMPETENCIES:
1. Identify dental materials by sight and description.
2. Demonstrate a knowledge of and skill in dental materials science.
3. Manipulate selected dental materials within the dental hygienists scope of practice
4. Provide clinical dental hygiene services involving the selection, manipulation and care of specific dental materials
5. Evaluate the specific effects of various materials on the oral environment and the effectiveness of such materials in the prevention and treatment of oral disease.
6. Describe the strengths and weaknesses of various materials in the oral environment during the provision of dental hygiene services.
