STANDARD COMPETENCIES:
I. Exhibit professional behavior in attitude, actions, appearance
II. and personal hygiene.
III. Utilize efficient and effective operator/patient body mechanics to promote maximum operator comfort, visibility and patient accessibility.
IV. Follow proper infection control policies in all patient treatments to promote operator, patient and faculty/staff safety.
V. Obtain dental/medical histories and accurate vital signs measurements to plan preventative and therapeutic services.
VI. Perform an extra/intraoral exam utilizing proper technique and sequence to identify, describe and record deviations from the normal clinical features of the head, neck and oral cavity.
VII. Utilize and demonstrate correct instrumentation techniques for the hard and soft tissue dental exam and accurately record all findings.
VIII. Perform and accurately record periodontal assessment to include gingival description, perio probing, bleeding points and gingival margins.
IX. Evaluate and assess all patient data to develop a treatment plan.
