 STANDARD COMPETENCIES
 
 1.  Outline a performance itinerary in cooperation with specific schools.
 2.  Create a performance plan for each venue.
 3.  Assess different performing environments and different student populations.
 4.  Explore basic teaching techniques appropriate for targeted student populations and needs.
 5.  Assess the effectiveness of performances and workshops for target populations.
 6.  Implement materials and pedagogy used in dance performance and workshop settings.
 7.  Participate in dance performances and conduct workshops in local schools.
 
 


 TOPICAL OUTLINE
 
 I. Explore interest and set up performances and workshops with targeted schools
      a. Generate information outlining proposed performances and workshops
      b. Identify interested institutions
      c. Create schedule of specific workshops and performances
 II. Gather and analyze data about the specific workshop and performance environments
      a. Determine size of designated space
      b. Assess accessibility of designated space
      c. Evaluate technology available in designated space
 III. Gather and analyze data concerning targeted student populations
      a. Determine the number of students
      b. Assess age of students
      c. Examine demographics of students
 IV. Create a performance itinerary based on the data gathered from participating schools concerning their performance and
     workshop requests, the performance space, and students
      a. Set practical start and end times
      b. Identify each activity’s time span
      c. Assign students to coordinate activities
      d. Create a back-up plan, activity, or approach as contingencies
 V. Assess the completed event following a school visit
      a. Identify how many students were served
      b. Generate follow-up surveys for students and staff, distribute, and then analyze feedback
      c. Analyze successes and challenges of how the dance ensemble students communicated and worked together in the presented event
 VI. Evaluation and self-reflection
      a. Analyze data generated in various surveys and, if needed, refine the processes used to create future projects
      b. Present self-reflection by students of their ensemble outreach experiences.
