STANDARD COMPETENCIES:
I. Develop a disciplined approach to dance.
II. Recognize the relationship of grace and extension to beauty and balance.
III. Respond to and use ballet terminology.
IV. Follow the fundamental exercise routine.
V. Acquire an understanding of simple ballet skills (i.e. studies in barre work, adagio, allegro).
VI. Increase and use the knowledge of bodily alignment in technique.
VII. Coordinate arm and leg movements.
VIII. Apply elements of line, shape, dynamics, space, and time to movement.
IX. Develop an understanding of the relationship of movement to music.
X Move to different rhythms.
XI. Identify some of the most accomplished ballet dancers and choreographers.
XII. Write a critique of a ballet performance.
XIII. Perform a routine for an audience.
