  Course Description:Examines the history and total correctional process from law enforcement through the administration of justice, probation, prisons, correctional institutions, and parole. Also examines the principles, theories, phenomena and problems of the crime, society, and the criminal justice system from the perspective of criminology and the criminal justice system in general. Emphasizes the role of sociology and other interdisciplinary approaches to the field of corrections and society’s response.

 4. Describe the organization of corrections in the United States, including federal and state correctional systems

 6. Discuss legal liabilities and legal principles in the field of corrections

 8. Summarize modern probation including various approaches for successful completion
 9. Explain the goals, directions, and varied operations of intermediate sanctions, including community corrections
 10. Discuss the history and goals of incarceration and the Unites States
 11. Appraise the federal, state, and local organization of institutional corrections
 12. Describe the origins and evolution of jails and detention facilities, including their goals, organization and management
