  Course Description:Introduces the student to the materials, techniques, procedures, and human interrelations involved in developing computer information systems. Includes the systems approach, fact gathering techniques, forms design, input/output, file design, file organization, various charting techniques, system audits on controls, project management, implementation, and evaluation.

 I.      Explain the key role of a systems analyst in business
 II.     Explain the purpose and phases of the system development life cycle (SDLC)
 III.    Describe the three approaches used to develop information systems
 IV.     Describe the types of models used for systems analysis and design
 V.      Describe the differences and similarities between relational and object-oriented database management systems
 VI.     Describe rapid development, prototyping, and spiral development approaches.
 VII.    Describe implementation and post-implementation activities.

 I.      The role of the systems analyst in systems development and strategic planning for an organization
 II.     The phases and activities of the SDLC
 III.    The planning phase including scope, cost/benefit analysis, and PERT and Gantt charts
 IV.     Models, tools, techniques and methodology
 V.      Using CASE tools in systems development
 VI.     Identifying users and requirements for the system
 VII.    Information systems models and how they are used
 VIII.   Case Diagrams, sequence diagrams, collaboration diagrams, and statechart diagrams
 IX.     Determining a development approach and presenting to management
 X       System flow charts, psuedo-code, class diagrams
 XI.     Object oriented design vs. structured design
 XII.    Inputs, Outputs, and controls
 XIII.   Designing the user interface
 XIV.    Rapid application development, prototyping, and spiral development
 XV.     System implementation, testing, documentation, and support.
