 3.  Develop an in-depth understanding of why computers are essential components in society as well as in the business world
 4.  Focus on the computer as a valuable productivity tool
 5.  Recognize the personal computer's position as the backbone of the computer industry and emphasize its use as a stand-alone and networked device

 IX.     Uses of communications and networks:  physical and wireless transmission media

 XI.     Information systems development life cycle (phases)
 XII.    Program development life cycle and an overview of programming languages
