  Course Description:Assesses the skills and abilities needed for the processes and activities for sourcing materials necessary for a business to deliver goods and services. An emphasis on the ability to formulate and manage the sourcing activities of purchasing supply, and sourcing logistics. The skills and fundamental comprehension for evaluating the sourcing of materials will be applied to business processes. Emphasizes decision analysis for logistics efficiency of purchasing, supply and sourcing.

 STANDARD COMPETENCIES:
 
 1. Identify and select potential supplier sources.
 2. Evaluate payment term alternates and pricing.
 3. Assess quality control of supplier sourcing and stability.
 4. Prepare and evaluate bids/quotes and requests for proposals  (RFPs).
 5. Prepare and appraise purchase orders.
 6. Deduce materials and supply discrepancies and proposal errors.
 7. Explain Contract Law review and processing.
 8. Explain the differences between Private Sector vs. Public Sector regulations in purchasing, sourcing, and supply.
 9. Identify and address issues associated with Single/Sole Source acquisitions.
 10. Employ and operate purchasing software platforms.
 11. Coordinate internal and external purchasing issues between organizational groups.
 12. Describe and explain International Purchasing issues.


 TOPICAL OUTLINE:
 
 I. Assemble bids/quotes for supply prices.
 II. Negotiate favorable payment terms and prices.
 III. Create Request for Proposals (RFP’s) and employ Federal Acquisition Regulations and contract law standards.
 IV. Distinguish order, placement, and payment terms.
 V. Create inspection criteria for receipt of goods/services for errors, defects and descrepencies.
 VI. Evaluate  supplier reliability and assessment of sourcing stability.
 VII. Evaluate software choices of manual vs. virtual for suitability.
 VIII. Differentiate agents, customs, and currency issues when ultizing internationally sourced supplies.
 IX. Analyyze and identify external or internal inefficiencies between business departments.
