The course emphasizes the basics of budgeting, buying, saving, borrowing, career planning, investing, retirement planning, estate planning, insurance, and income taxes.

 Required Course Learning Outcomes:
 1.  Construct a workable plan using goal setting and budgeting.
 2.  Identify the activities of a smart shopper, and avoid frauds and scams.
 3.  Demonstrate a basic knowledge of the banking and savings tools offered by financial institutions.
 4.  Explain the wise and unwise uses of credit and borrowing.
 5.  Interpret your own credit report and credit score, and the impacts on your financial life.
 6.  Evaluate career choices and activities as they relate to financial benefit.
 7.  Evaluate the costs of transportation options such as buying vs. leasing.
 8.  Demonstrate a basic knowledge of buying, financing, renting or selling a home.
 9.  Demonstrate an understanding of the basics of estate planning.
 10. Explain how insurance protects against risk, including home, auto, health, and life insurance.
 11. Demonstrate a basic knowledge of investing.
 12. Compare the various methods of retirement planning and calculate the savings necessary for retirement.
 13. Identify the importance aspects related to income tax and tax preparation and filing.
