STANDARD COMPETENCIES:
1. Design and organize a field research project.
2. Demonstrate the ability to conduct biological field studies in natural settings.
3. Present gathered and interpreted data in a written and/or oral presentation at the conclusion of the research exercise.
TOPICAL OUTLINE:
I. Pre-trip activities involving lectures, labs, readings, and activities to prepare students for the biology and environment they
will encounter on the trip.
II. Extended field trip to an area of biological interest.
a. Field studies conducted at the field site
b. Taking field notes
c. Data collection
III. Post-trip activities in which students synthesize information gathered on the trip.
