REQUIRED COURSE LEARNING OUTCOMES:
1. Defend the necessity of completing a comprehensive physical exam.
2. Describe a comprehensive physical exam and then associate the assessment to a patient’s chief complaint and establishment of a differential diagnosis.
3. Describe the pathophysiology and presentation of various forms of shock.
4. Formulate a treatment plan for a patient presenting in shock.
5. Describe the pathophysiology of common acute disease processes associated with the major organ systems.
6. Describe the pathophysiology of common chronic diseases processes associated with the major organ systems.
7. Defend the use of the prescription medications used to manage common chronic medical conditions.
8. Explain the side effects of medications used to manage chronic medical conditions.
9. Predict the expected changes in laboratory values in a patient with a given disease process.
10. Establish a treatment plan to address acute life threats and then long-term management of a patient, given the laboratory values, history, and physical assessment findings associated with a medical complaint.
11. Describe the expected systemic effects of comorbid illness given two or more chronic disease processes.
12. Describe the pathophysiology of conditions adversely affecting the gestational process and fetal delivery.
13. Establish a treatment plan for the mother and fetus in a medical emergency.
14. Describe the management of fetus delivered with congenital defects.
15. Formulate a management plan for a patient presenting with signs and symptoms of an individual or polypharmacological toxidrome.
