STANDARD COMPETENCIES:

 1. Demonstrate safe attitudes and a regard for scene safety in the lab and clinical setting.

 2. Demonstrate appropriate airway management techniques at the basic life support level.

 3. Demonstrate the ability to take an accurate and complete set of vital signs.

 4. Perform a thorough history on patients with medical and/or trauma complaints.

 5. Perform a thorough physical examination on patients with medical and/or trauma complaints.

 6. Assist patients with the administration of select medications allowed by state guidelines.

 7. Perform trauma management skills, including splinting, spinal stabilization, and bleeding control.

 8. Perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).

 9. Operate an automated external defibrillator (AED) safely
