STANDARD COMPETENCIES:
1. Identify strategies that prehospital care providers can implement that will reduce the risk of injury.
2. Integrate principles of the kinematics of trauma into patient assessment.
3. Identify potential threats to the safety of emergency personnel, patients, and bystanders that are common to all emergency scenes.
4. Describe the steps in trauma patient assessment.
5. Demonstrate the methods used to control the airway in trauma patients.
6. Apply principles of management of shock in the trauma patient.
7. Describe the management of the patient with head, chest, and abdominal injuries.
8. Demonstrate the techniques used in spinal immobilization.
