 STANDARD COMPETENCIES:
 1. Explain the role of the Emergency Medical Technician in the EMS system.
 2. Explain the ethical responsibilities and legal guidelines pertinent to the EMT.
 3. Recognize hazards to personal safety and take appropriate measures to mitigate dangers.
 4. Describe methods of maintaining well-being including how to deal with stress effectively.
 5. Demonstrate proper communication techniques within the EMS system.
 6. Demonstrate the ability to perform a proper patient assessment using evidence based decision making.
 7. Demonstrate the ability to appropriately manage a patient’s airway, breathing, and oxygenation based on clinical findings.
